Eligibility Criteria to Apply for SSC CGL Examination

There are some standards set by every department for the selection of most suitable candidates for the posts. Those who fulfill all the criteria can apply for this examination.

SSC CGL Selection Procedure

Age limit:

Posts that require age limit of 18 to 27 years Must have born between 02.08.1991 and 01.08.2000
Posts that require age limit of 20 to 27 years Must have born between 02.08.1991 and 01.08.1998
Posts that require age limit of 20 to 30 years Must have born between 02.08.1988 and 01.08.1998
Posts that require age limit upto 30 years Must have born between 02.08.1988 and 01.08.2000
Posts that require age limit upto 32 years Must have born between 02.08.1986 and 01.08.2000
Age limit will be reckoned as on 01.08.2021

Educational Qualification:

Candidate applying for any of the post must have these educational qualifications.

Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer Candidate applying for this post must have a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised university, along with

  • Chartered Accountant OR
  • Cost Management Accountant OR
  • Company Secretary OR
  • Masters in Commerce OR
  • Masters in Business Studies OR
  • Masters in Business Administration OR
  • Masters in Business Economics
Junior Statistics Officer Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognised university with scoring at least 60% marks in Mathematics in 12th standard.

OR

Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised university in any subject along with statistics as one of the subjects during graduation.

All Other Posts Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or equivalent to that.
Final year candidates may also apply for this examination, but must possess these educational qualifications as described above before 01.08.2021.

Nationality:

A candidate applying must be

    • A citizen of India, or
    • A subject of Nepal, or
    • A subject of Bhutan, or
    • A Tibetan refugee came over to India before 01 January 1962 with the intention of permanent settling in India, or
    • A person of Indian Origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, The United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam with the intention of permanent settling in India.

SSC CGL Selection Procedure

You must be knowing that exam will be conducted in four tiers i.e., Tier-I, Tier-II, Tier-III, Tier-IV. Each and every part is equally important to pass with good numbers.

The examination will be conducted for all the four Tiers as follows:

Tier I: Computer Based Examination

Tier II: Computer Based Examination

Tier III: Pen and Paper Mode (Descriptive)

Tier IV: Computer Proficiency Test/ Skill Test/ Document Verification

Only Commission Reserves the rights to amend changes in the scheme of examination.

SSC Sample Paper

Important points to know for all these Tiers:

  • In Tier-I there will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for every wrong attempt.
  • In Tier-II, there will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong attempt in Paper-II (English Language and Comprehension), and of 0.50 marks for every wrong attempt in Paper I (Quantitative Abilities), Paper III (Statistics), Paper IV (General Studies).
  • In Tier-II, Paper I and II are compulsory for all the posts.
  • In Tier-II, Paper III will be conducted for the candidates who are applying for Junior Statistical Officer and shortlisted in Tier-I for the post.
  • In Tier-II, Paper IV will be for the candidates shortlisted in Tier-I for Paper-IV for the post of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.
  • In Tier-IV, Computer Proficiency Test, Skill Test, Document Verification will be done as per the notice.
